Dr Jessica Forrest

Dr Jessica Forrest

Director & Consultant Psychiatrist

I have worked as a doctor across Australia for over 12 years, and completed specialist training in psychiatry in 2024. I have a particular interest in supporting people with neurodivergent conditions, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disability.

I work from a foundation of unconditional positive regard. This means I aim to meet each person without judgement, with openness to the complexity of who they are and what they have been through. My approach to psychotherapy is gentle, reflective, and non-directive. Rather than telling you who to be or what to do, I support you to better understand yourself and discover what feels right for your life. Where medication is helpful, we can consider this collaboratively as part of a broader, person-centred plan.

"The greatest source of my learning continues to be the individuals and families with lived experience who have entrusted me with their care. They have taught me far more than any textbook ever could."
— Dr Jessica Forrest

Dr Jessica Forrest is not accepting new patients.

Dr Shyam Ravilla

Dr Shyam Ravilla

Consultant Psychiatrist

I am a general adult psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience. I completed my psychiatric training in India and have had the privilege of working with diverse communities across a range of clinical settings in both India and Australia. My approach is warm, collaborative, and patient-centred. I believe that good mental health care begins with listening carefully, understanding each person's unique story, and working together to find a path that feels safe, respectful, and meaningful.

I take a holistic view of wellbeing, recognising the important role of lifestyle, relationships, physical health, sleep, movement, and psychosocial support in recovery and long-term mental health. I have a particular interest in deprescribing, which involves safely reducing or discontinuing medications when they are no longer needed or when a simpler treatment plan may better support a person's wellbeing.

"I see each person as the expert in their own experience. My role is to listen deeply, understand with care, and work alongside them toward meaningful change."
— Dr Shyam Ravilla
Dr Karishma Kulkarni

Dr Karishma Kulkarni

Consultant Psychiatrist

I am a psychiatrist with more than ten years of experience as a qualified consultant psychiatrist across India, UK and Australia. I have worked in public mental health and private practice in the western suburbs of Melbourne. I have completed Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

My main areas of interest are women's mental health, youth mental health, psychodynamic psychotherapy, refugee and asylum seeker mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders and psychiatry teaching and training.

I am a subject tutor in the Masters of Psychiatry program at the University of Melbourne. I have published research on delusional disorder, bipolar disorder, telepsychiatry and psychotherapy in international peer-reviewed journals.

"My style of working is collaborative, client-centred and trauma-sensitive. I am committed to using telehealth as a tool to provide equitable access to mental healthcare over all parts of Australia."
— Dr Karishma Kulkarni

Patient Care Coordination
Leigh Ramsay

Leigh Ramsay

Director & Patient Care Coordinator

With over 20 years of experience as a Mental Health Social Worker, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals through some of life's most challenging and transformative moments. My passion has always been working alongside people — listening deeply, understanding their unique experiences, and helping them recognise their own strength and capacity for change.

I strongly believe in growth, resilience, and recovery. Every person's journey is different, and I am committed to meeting people exactly where they are, without judgement, and supporting them as they move toward where they want to be. My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and a genuine belief that meaningful change is possible for everyone.

Being a founder of Good Call Psychiatry has been a deeply meaningful step in my professional journey. This venture represents not only years of experience and dedication, but also my commitment to creating a space where people feel heard, valued, and empowered. Building Good Call Psychiatry has allowed me to shape a service that reflects my core values — authenticity, collaboration, and hope — whilst maintaining a strong commitment to client-centred care.

I truly enjoy working with people, forming supportive partnerships, and walking alongside them as they navigate growth and change. It is both a privilege and a purpose to do this work, and I am honoured to continue supporting individuals as they create the lives they want for themselves.

"Meaningful change is possible for everyone — and it is both a privilege and a purpose to walk alongside people as they create the lives they want for themselves."
— Leigh Ramsay

A valid GP referral is required before booking an appointment. Once you have your referral, you can contact us via the contact form, phone, or email. Our team will be in touch to confirm your appointment and send through any intake paperwork.

Yes. A GP referral is required to access Medicare rebates for psychiatric consultations. While you may technically see a specialist without a referral, you would not be eligible for a Medicare rebate in that case.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, usually lasting 60–90 minutes. It's an opportunity to share your story in your own words, without pressure. We'll discuss your current concerns, history, background, and goals for treatment. You may be asked about your mental health history, family history, lifestyle, and current stressors.

At the end of the session, we'll discuss initial impressions and outline possible next steps. A letter will be sent to your GP following the consultation.

Initial consultations are typically 60–90 minutes. Review appointments are usually 30–45 minutes. Brief medication reviews may be 15–20 minutes. We'll always let you know in advance how long your appointment is scheduled for.

This practice does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are in crisis, at risk of harming yourself or others, or are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please contact:

Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously and all information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and relevant Australian health privacy legislation. Information shared during consultations is confidential. A report will be sent to your referring GP as part of coordinated care, unless you specifically request otherwise.

There are limited circumstances in which confidentiality may be breached (e.g. if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others) — these will be discussed with you openly.

As medical specialists, our doctors can prescribe psychiatric medication where it is clinically appropriate and forms part of an evidence-informed treatment plan. Medication is always discussed collaboratively — including the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives. It is not always the first step, and may be part of a broader plan that includes psychological and lifestyle approaches.
